This Weekend Gallery Is Kinder and Gentler
It’s a crazy-ass world, but at least you can eat a handful of gummies, power down a pint glass full of tequila and enjoy the hell out of these pictures, which capture industry folk doing industry stuff. Sláinte!
At the BRIT Awards, Olivia Dean—who took home four gongs that evening—was corralled into a photo with members of her U.K. label team. The following people then proceeded to run a gauntlet of Manchester afterparties, at which they vaguely remember consuming champagne from pint glasses like a right bunch of Mancs: Capitol U.K.’s Tom Paul and Jo Charrington, Dean and Polydor Label Group’s Jamie Ahye. When you’re a big, important star, you get invited to cool stuff. Case in point: Mercury/Republic’s Noah Kahan and Atlantic’s Don Toliver were welcomed to the F.A.T. Ice Race 2026 in Big Sky, Montana, the latter as a guest of Porsche. We, meanwhile, were invited to sign up for a sweet new credit card with only 27% APR.
Republic’s Monte Lipman recently journeyed to the U.K. for the BRIT Awards, where he joined this photo array with a phalanx of British executives who hemmed and hawed adorably. Seen at the UMG BRITs Showcase shortly before a brutal round of Edwardian trivia are, from left, UMG U.K.’s Nickie Owen, Island U.K.’s Louis Bloom, UMG U.K. ruler Dickon Stainer, Monte, Polydor Label Group head Ben Mortimer and UMG Canada topper Jeffrey Remedios.
Two giants of hip-hop, A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Public Enemy leader Chuck D, are proud to be pictured at the inaugural Sankofa.org Social Justice Awards at L.A.’s Chaplin Studios. They are less excited about the picture running here. (Todd Westphal/Sankofa.org)
Primary Wave hosted its fourth annual out-of-towners brunch on the morning after the Guild of Music Supervisors Awards. The event, as usual, was highlighted by a pancake-wolfing competition between Larry Mestel and Justin Shukat, with a cool branding activation by Zantac. Seen wishing they’d brought their own maple syrup are (top, from left) Derek Pierce, Tony Von Pervieux, Peter Kurczaba, Oliver Gamston, Ben Chan, Emily Carthum, Melissa Chapman, Emily Weinstein, Erik Engle, Jessica Dolinger, Otis Rachtman, Ariella Shvartz and (bottom, from left) Karrington Baisden, Kirsten Lane, Marty Silverstone, Karyn Rachtman and Patrick Lawrence Zappia.
During the Latin Recording Academy’s first-ever Leading Ladies of Entertainment Symposium at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, the following people segued from “a few tequilas” to a full-on vision quest: Nevarez PR boss Mayna Nevarez, UMPG SVP of Latin Music Ana Rosa Santiago, Sony Music Puerto Rico VP Mari Carmen “Tuti” Bou and GTS MD Paula Kaminsky. One of rock’s great vocalists and a truly gifted songwriter, The Guess Who’s Burton Cummings, is seen with attorney Helen Yu of Yu Lesebeg, who was instrumental in helping the band’s founders regain control of its name. In May, The Guess Who will embark on its first tour in 23 years. A warning to all karaoke participants: “These Eyes” is much harder to sing than you think, so don’t pull a neck muscle.
Republic’s Grace Goldstein likes to wear her HITS beanie while cranking Chumbawamba.
Guatemalan artist-songwriter-producer Juan Fernando Pardo Arana, who goes by the musical moniker PARDOPARDO, commemorated his freshly inked deal with Capitol Records (and new single “ENCONTREMOS UNA MANERA”) by posing in front of its storied tower with his team. Later, a guy in an off-brand superhero costume asked if they wanted to buy some weed. Seen feeling they’d experienced “peak Hollywood” are, from left, producer Mariano Monzón, attorneys Carlos Montoya and Walter Mosley, Capitol VP of A&R Sergio Vega, PARDOPARDO, MGMT’s Héctor Fraire and attorney Natalie Acosta.
