Bernie-Inspired Benefit Comp Aims To Take America Back
On the eve of this year's midterm election, SoundsGood Records engages in the battle for the soul of the U.S.A. with the announcement of Take America Back: The Fight Oligarchy Album. Released on CD, vinyl and digital Feb. 26, 2027, the album—which will not be available on streaming services—benefits nonprofits dedicated to fighting corrupt corporate influence within democracy. Hmmm, who could that be referring to?
An outgrowth of the Fighting Oligarchy Tour, a series of rallies led by Senator Bernie Sanders, Take America Back: The Fight Oligarchy Album features released, unreleased and original tracks by artists who played the tour, along with many allies for the cause. Neil Young, Carole King, Maggie Rogers, Steve Earle, Dirty Projectors, Portugal. The Man and Rufus Wainwright head up a lineup that also includes Hüsker Dü, Mt. Joy, Sunny War, Yola, Ratboys and Particle Kid.
SoundsGood Records co-founder Caleb Wilson said, "Carole King, Maggie Rogers, Neil Young, Steve Earle are just a few of the artists on this record who've spent their careers refusing to look away and lent their songs to fight for our democracy when we need it most. We purposely made this album something you hold onto, which captures the moment we find ourselves in. A record, in every sense of the word."
