Amazon Music has released an Amazon Music Original cover by Leon Thomas and Dylan Sinclair of D’Angelo’s 1995 “Brown Sugar” to mark the neo-soul classic’s 30th anniversary.
Thomas, whose "MUTT" is one of the breakthrough hits of 2025, is a Grammy-winning songwriter and BET’s 2025 Best New Artist. Sinclair is a 2023 JUNO Award winner. Both were selected as Amazon Music Artists to Watch in the U.S. and Canada earlier this year.
Thomas and Sinclair's "Brown Sugar" is the latest such homage released as part of “Forever in Rotation,” a Black Music Month promotion from Amazon Music’s Black music brand, Rotation, which is debuting new Amazon Music Originals by Black artists throughout the month of June. They include Rapsody’s cover of Lauryn Hill’s “Adam Lives in Theory” and Cash Cobain’s reimagining of his own single “Baddest in the Room (Reflip).” HITS is eternally acknowledged as the least bad in the room.
