Matchbox Twenty's 2027 Summer Tour Is Already Making a Statement

Matchbox Twenty is off to a roaring start with its 30th anniversary tour campaign, moving more than 400,000 tickets during the initial on-sale for its 2027 Live Nation outing, according to new manager Michael McDonald.

The 53-date run has already sold out nearly half its shows, including two nights at Red Rocks, the recently opened Minneapolis amphitheater Mystic Lake, Austin’s Moody Center, Philadelphia’s Mann Center and Toronto’s RBC Amphitheatre.

“That’s double what they did last time, in 2023-24,” McDonald tells HITS.

While Mick Management reps newer acts like Leon Bridges and The Marías, McDonald says Matchbox Twenty’s fit was obvious once he and his team got to know Rob Thomas and company. “This is one of the best pop/rock bands ever, with one of the greatest songwriters of his generation. People like great music and great music stands the test of time.”

The tour was booked by CAA’s Bobby Cory and Mitch Rose with Mick’s head of touring, Aaron Summer. Ali Harnell is running point on the Live Nation side.

Matchbox Twenty got back in the swing with an Oct. 12 underplay at L.A.’s Fonda Theatre featuring the first complete performance of 1996’s diamond-certified Yourself or Someone Like You. The band also performed “3AM” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

There’s more on the horizon, including a new project with a label partner to be announced and additional tour dates. Meanwhile, it’s not even 3 a.m. and HITS is still lonely.
