AEG Opening Moonline in Former Emo's Building

September 24, 2026

AEG Presents is putting a new name on a room previously occupied by one of Austin’s most familiar venues.

As previously reported, the promoter is leasing the building currently occupied by Emo’s in the city’s East Riverside neighborhood, and it has now revealed that the 1,500-capacity venue will return in early 2027 as Moonline.

Moonline will undergo a series of renovations, including upgrades to its sound system, green rooms, backstage areas and fan-facing amenities.

The venue is the latest evidence of AEG’s expanding Austin operation. Just a mile away, the company is building United Heritage Hall, a 4,000-seater at River Park. Together, the two rooms will enable AEG to mount intimate shows by emerging acts, larger concerts, touring productions and special events in the Texas capital.

“Austin has a long history of artists making music on their own terms,” said AEG Presents VP Southwest Region Robin Phillips. “It’s a city shaped by people who built their own scenes, found their own rooms, challenged what came before them and made something distinctly Austin long before the rest of the world caught on.”

An Austin institution known for its packed South by Southwest showcases, Emo’s opened in its original location in 1992 and closed in 2011. The club moved that year and in 2013 was sold to local promoter C3 Presents. Upcoming shows include ADÉLA, Dexter and the Moonrocks, DANNA and Medium Build.

After final gigs there in December, Emo's will eventually relocate to a new space in Austin and will continue to be operated by Live Nation.
