Danny Wimmer

Founder, Danny Wimmer Presents

November 5, 2026

Avid marathon runner Danny Wimmer began his long-distance training in music when he opened the Milk Bar in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1993, where little-known local band Limp Bizkit often played.

After going as far as he could locally, Wimmer packed his bags for Los Angeles in 1999–2000, joining Bizkit’s Fred Durst in launching Flawless Records—an imprint of UMG through Interscope/Geffen. There, they signed such acts as Puddle of Mudd, She Wants Revenge and Ringside. Wimmer soon landed A&R gigs at Epic and Atlantic before returning to his true calling—concert promotion.

In 2007, Wimmer launched his first major festival, Rock on the Range, in Columbus, Ohio, and in 2011 he established Danny Wimmer Presents, growing it into one of the largest independent rock festival promoters in the world. For more than two decades, Wimmer has built a career around creating and producing live entertainment experiences that bring artists, fans and communities together.

“Danny is a visionary, but what makes him such a great person to work with is the passion behind his vision,” said Chamie McCurry, CMO and GM at DWP. “He is constantly pushing the team to think bigger, challenge what we’ve done before and find the best way to deliver for the fan. He never loses sight of who we’re doing this for.”

DWP produces some of the most successful rock, alternative and lifestyle festivals in the U.S., including Welcome to Rockville, Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival, Louder Than Life, Aftershock, Inkcarceration, Bourbon & Beyond and GoldenSky, among others, welcoming more than 1m fans annually across all its events. Most are held in secondary or tertiary markets, helping expand the national touring pipeline and boosting locales not centered on either coast.

Under Wimmer’s leadership, DWP has expanded beyond festival production into concert promotion, venue programming and consulting, casino talent buying and merchandising, while maintaining the independent, entrepreneurial culture at the heart of his company.

“Danny is one of the most passionate, driven and dedicated people I know, and a music fan first,” said Cory Brennan, founder of 5B Artist Management, home to Slipknot, BABYMETAL and Lamb of God. “He took a chance on rock and heavy music festivals in North America when few others would, and in doing so built an entire ecosystem that has grown careers, strengthened the connection between artists and fans and pushed the culture and genre forward. Everyone else is still playing catch-up.”

  • Live100 Q&A

Wearing the T-shirt of the artist you’re seeing in concert: fitting homage or kinda cringe?

Wear the shirt, buy another one and wear that one tomorrow. Anyone judging what another fan is wearing at a concert probably isn’t having enough fun.

What’s the single biggest threat facing the live music business?

Forgetting who we work for: the fan.
