Trade Secrets' Luke Conway
You can go back in time and see any concert. Whom would you see and when?
Red Hot Chili Peppers with Nirvana and Pearl Jam, New Year’s Eve, 1991
Name a manager not in your company whom you admire.
Roger Davies. From the highest highs to the lowest lows, Roger has stayed by his artists’ sides for decades, guiding careers like Tina Turner, Janet Jackson and P!nk to global success. What stands out to me is his ability to reinvent careers at pivotal moments while balancing creative vision with smart business strategy. He keeps the spotlight on his artists, not himself, and his loyalty and long-term results set a gold standard for management.
You’re made czar of the concert industry. What’s the first thing you’d change?
I’d make sure artists participate in all revenue streams, full stop. That means ancillary revenue at the venue, ticketing fees, resale fees, etc.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“What got you here won’t get you there!”—Nate Albert
