Sandbox's Bobby Simmons
What was the first concert you ever attended?
The one that sticks out in my mind was White Heart at the Sam Houston Music Hall in Houston, sometime around 1986. It was their Emergency Broadcast Tour. I would have been 10. These guys would go on to become some of the biggest live and session musicians out of Nashville, and they had a major influence on me as a young musician.
You can go back in time and see any concert. Whom would you see and when?
Led Zeppelin, mid-1970s. I played drums in my younger life and I’m a rocker at heart. To see them play all those hits with John Bonham would be amazing.
Describe your all-time-favorite photo, memento or tchotchke from your job.
The most recent “photo” that will certainly be an all-time favorite was taken by a speed-enforcement camera in Iceland in 2023. It captured Kacey Musgraves and me coming back from a late-night northern lights excursion doing a blazing 101 km in a 90 km zone. Kacey framed the photo and gave it to me as a Christmas gift that year.
