Red Light's Pete Galli
What was the first concert you ever attended?
John Mellancamp, Scarecrow Tour, April 9, 1986, Oakland Coliseum Arena. I was in sixth grade and went with my older brothers. Kenny Aronoff was crushing on drums. Twenty-five years later I sat next to Kenny on a plane flying home from SXSW. I told him how that night in Oakland changed my life. He gave me his number and we’ve been friends ever since.

The Bravery had the honor to open for U2. During their first song on the opening night of the tour in Manchester, the stage power cut off. The band left the stage, waited 10 minutes and started back up playing the same song. The power went out again! The band eventually got through the set. After the show, they received a note that read, “The Bravery, WOW—that was great. I hope it worked out for ya. The hooks, the looks, the ducks are getting in a row… See you in Bubalin Dubalin. —Bono. P.S. If you need anything, call Edge, Adam or Larry.” I have his note framed in my office.
You’re made czar of the concert industry. What’s the first thing you’d change?
The word "algorithm" is banished from all conversations, meetings and plans.
