What was the first concert you ever attended?

Hilary Duff, 2005, American Bank Center, Corpus Christi, Texas. I had no idea what to expect other than the chance to sing the songs I had on a CD. The moment the music started and the crowd stood up screaming and dancing, I fell back into my chair crying! I was so overwhelmingly inspired by that level of community that I’ve spent the rest of my life trying to provide it to others.

You can go back in time and see any concert. Whom would you see and when?

Led Zeppelin, Madison Square Garden, 1973. I feel like I’ve already been there, due to a teenage hyper-fixation on The Song Remains the Same documentary.

You’re made czar of the concert industry. What’s the first thing you’d change?

I’ve always wished for more focus on artist mental health. Success isn’t always measured in followers and streams. It can also come from having a happy family at home and getting enough sleep at night.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

“How you do anything is how you do everything.”—Joey Simmrin, MDDN
