What was the first concert you ever attended?

Menudo, Capital Centre, Landover, Maryland. Little Ricky Martin!

You can go back in time and see any concert. Whom would you see and when?

Grateful Dead, Ventura County Fairgrounds, 1987. I drive by this location every time I head north of where we live. It looks out on the ocean and became a yearly stop for the band before the town grew tired of the influx of Deadheads. I just always imagine how cool it would have been to see them right on the side of the ocean under the palm trees. I have gotten so much inspiration from the community-based fandom for bands like The Dead and apply it every day to my management clients.

You’re made czar of the concert industry. What’s the first thing you’d change?

Crack the code on knowing who is attending a concert with each ticket. As a marketer, the fact that we don’t really have points of contact with each person who comes to a show is a giant missed opportunity for our industry.

What's your all-time favorite memento, photo or tchotchke from your job?

I like to talk with my clients about setting goals and achieving them to the fullest extent: “Knock down every pin.” Back in 2010, after two years of sold-out reunion tour dates around the world, New Kids on the Block presented me with a bowling pin mounted on a trophy and they all signed it. The plaque reads, “You set them up, we’ll knock them down.”
