What was the first concert you ever attended?
UB40 at The Hollywood Palladium. I was 13 years old. I got there early and stood front row. I ended up getting pulled over the barricade by security within the first few songs because I was getting crushed. C’est la vie, front row!
What’s the single biggest change in a manager’s responsibilities since you started in the biz?
The biggest change is the biggest gift: digital marketing. It's a large part of what managers do nowadays, and the benefit of having a direct line to your artist’s fans is extraordinarily empowering.
Name a manager not in your company whom you admire.
The Clancys [Tyler, the Creator]. I've known them since the ‘90s, and they have always remained humble and committed to the art and their values.
You’re made czar of the concert industry. What’s the first thing you’d change?
Hidden service charges and fees. I understand companies need to charge fees to render their services, but I would love to see fees become more standardized and fair.
