TMWRK's Andrew McInnes
What was the first concert you ever attended?
A hardcore show with Sky Came Falling and A Day in the Life in 1998 at Deja One in Mineola, Long Island. After that I saw as much live music as I could. Five years later I was working at Columbia Records as an A&R scout.
You can go back in time and see any concert. Whom would you see and when?
The Last Waltz is my favorite concert film. I would love to have seen The Band IRL.
What’s the single biggest change in a manager’s responsibilities since you started in the biz?
More than ever we operate as the CEOs of our clients’ careers. There is a tremendous amount of information to process: marketing, AI, DSPs, ticketing, branding deals, social media, investment, labels, start-ups… Every artist has different needs and requirements. It’s required that you stay informed and make a specific plan for each client.
Name a manager not in your company whom you admire.
Jonathan Daniel has always been very generous with his time and wisdom.
You’re made czar of the concert industry. What’s the first thing you’d change?
More transparency for the consumer. The customer is fed up with the current state of the ticketing business.
