Grammy Nominees: Jon Batiste, Bobby Pulido, Teyana Taylor, Reba McEntire, Spiritbox
It can’t be all couture fittings and champagne toasts for this year’s exalted Grammy nominees. They also have to put up with mishegas like this…
Jon Batiste
What stands out most about the process of recording BIG MONEY?
Working with Randy Newman and developing our bond. We talked about the messages on BIG MONEY and how lyrics and irony can speak powerfully to the times we’re in. For this recording process we went back to the essence of recorded music: a band in a room playing a song and landing straight onto tape. It felt electric every time we would crack the code for a new song.

Bobby Pulido
Grammys aside, name an award or honor you’ve won that means the most to you.
One of the most meaningful honors I’ve received hasn’t come from an award show or an industry stage; it’s come directly from the fans. Over the years, people have shared with me how one of my songs became the soundtrack to an important chapter in their lives. Maybe it was the song they danced to at their wedding, or the one playing during a long drive with their dad, or the track that comforted them after losing someone they loved. Those moments—those personal stories—have always touched me more deeply than any trophy ever could.
Teyana Taylor
What stands out most about the process of recording Escape Room?
Escape Room wasn’t just about music, I was peeling back layers and letting people into a space I don’t always share. I wasn’t chasing trends or trying to fit into a box; I was creating from a place of truth. There were late nights, lots of emotions and a lot of intention, but also so much joy in the process. It reminded me why I fell in love with making music in the first place.

Reba McEntire
What stands out most about the process of recording “Trailblazer” with Miranda and Lainey Wilson?
How thrilled I was that we were gonna get to sing together. Not only sing together, but write a song together with the incredible Brandy Clark.

Besides yourselves, of course, who will you be openly rooting for on Grammy night?
Courtney LaPlante: While I’d love to win Best Metal Performance, I’m rooting for Turnstile in all the other categories where they’re nominated. Rarely do bands like them—who don’t try to fit in—get nominated, let alone potentially sweep the entire category. I’ve always rooted for them. The first time I went to the Grammys in 2023, I showed my support by getting my nails painted like the GLOW ON album artwork: pink and white clouds in a pink sky.
