You’re made czar of the concert industry. What’s the first thing you’d change?

I would love to implement a system that rewards genuine fan engagement—streaming stats and online interaction—with early pit access. It would give superfans a way in without having to camp outside venues for hours, often in unsafe or uncomfortable conditions.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Earlier this year I saw Medium Build at the El Rey, and during his set he said he sometimes thinks of artists as falling into two categories: connectors and entertainers. Since hearing that, it’s changed the way I approach working with some artists. To truly build, you first need to distill what makes an artist unique, and then ensure that everything—every decision, every piece of content—amplifies that essence.
