Activist's Karly Brecher
What was the first concert you ever attended?
Avril Lavigne, Try to Shut Me Up tour, Nassau Coliseum, 2003. I made my grandma take me shopping so I could buy a tie and dress like Avril.
You can go back in time and see any concert. Whom would you see and when?
Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged set in 1993.
What’s the single biggest change in a manager’s responsibilities since you started in the biz?
The pace. Everything moves faster now: strategy, content, touring, communication. The role itself has always evolved with the culture and tech shifts, but the speed of change keeps accelerating.
Name a mistake you’ve made in the biz and what you learned from it.
I used to get too caught up trying to deliver on things that were totally out of my control. I care deeply about what I do and hold myself to a high standard, but I’ve learned to draw the line and let go of what’s not mine to carry… within reason.
