Mick's Moment

May 21, 2025

Thanks to the homegrown success of acts like Leon Bridges, Maggie Rogers and the surging Marías, Mick Management’s Michael McDonald and Jonathan Eshak have been gracefully growing the firm in a fiercely competitive space.

With partner Adam Sensenbrenner's performing a crucial role, Mick also reps Americana Award-winning indie folk act Caamp, singer-songwriters Julien Baker and Ray LaMontagne, veteran rock outfit My Morning Jacket and college-kid faves The Backseat Lovers.

McDonald has kept a strong, steady pace since founding Mick in 2001 (after several years as tour manager for the Dave Matthews Band). That tenacity was just as prominently on display when he completed an Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii in early 2020. He’s also a former chairman of MusiCares and remains heavily involved in the philanthropic org.

Observers note that Mick turned a corner in 2015 when Eshak became a partner and took on a bigger role in company operations and growth strategy. The fruit of those labors are particularly evident with The Marías, who've exploded in the wake of a huge Coachella moment and are generating considerable Best New Artist buzz on the strength of global streaming hits like “No One Noticed” (463m at Spotify and counting). The Nice Life/Atlantic quartet’s shed-heavy summer tour begins on 7/10.

Mick, which sold a minority stake to Firebird Music Holdings in June 2023, also hosts a full-service record label, the Believe-distributed Mick Music. The company’s offices in Manhattan, Nashville and Los Angeles cumulatively house a staff of 20+, who've wisely changed the door codes at all three locations to prevent us from dropping by “because we were in the neighborhood.”
