VMAs: Mariah Carey to Receive Video Vanguard Award, Perform

Mariah Carey will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and perform a career-spanning medley at the MTV Video Music Awards, which will be broadcast live Sept. 7 on CBS and MTV and streamed on Paramount+ from New York's UBS Arena, in what will be Mimi's first time on the VMA stage in 20 years.

On Sept. 26, Carey—who has sold more than 220 million albums, won five Grammys and amassed more #1 singles than any solo artist in history—will release her 16th album, Here for It All (gamma.), home to "Type Dangerous," nominated for the VMA for Best R&B.

The diva made her previous appearance on the show to promote 2005's The Emancipation of Mimi.

Hosted by LL COOL J, the 2025 Video Music Awards will start at 5pm PT.
