MILEY NAILS IT

An official video for "On a Roll"—a reworked, pop take on Nine Inch Nails' "Head Like a Hole"—has arrived. It's of course performed by Miley Cyrus, who plays character Ashley O in Netflix's recently released Black Mirror season. Meanwhile, Cyrus' real-life single, "Mother's Daughter"—off new RCA EP SHE IS COMING—prepares to chart at Top 40 radio.

NIN frontman Trent Reznor green lit usage of the band's 1989 hit, including lyrical changes, and has publicly supported the project in appreciation of its dark comedy. Reznor most recently made headlines when he and NIN member/collaborator Atticus Ross ended up with 50% of the publishing for Lil Nas X mega-smash "Old Town Road," which samples an obscure instrumental from 2008 set Ghosts I–IV. The biggest song of the year by a long shot, "Old Town Road" will soon hit 1m in pure sales. And it goes without saying that the streaming is utterly bonkers.

In any case, we eagerly await the Nine Inch Nails cover of Miley Cyrus' "Malibu."
