BIG NEWS FROM THE BEEB

First Performers Revealed for BBC Radio 1's Flagship Festival

Coldplay, Ellie Goulding, Chase and Status, Bring Me the Horizon and Craig David are the first performers to be confirmed for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend, Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw announced today on his Breakfast Show.

The event—Europe's largest free ticketed festival—will occur in Exeter at Powderham Castle on 5/28-29. The majority of the free tickets will be given to residents of Exeter and neighboring areas; more detailed info will be provided via Radio 1 come 3/21. The full lineup will also be provided in the coming weeks.

“We’ve taken Lady Gaga to Carlisle, Taylor Swift to Norwich and now we’re taking Chris Martin back home," shared Radio 1 and 1Xtra Controller Ben Cooper. "We’re very proud to be able to bring such a diverse range of acts to Exeter, where they’ll be part of our biggest weekend of the year.”

The Big Weekend will be broadcast live on Radio 1 with a video stream available at bbc.co.uk/radio1. And individual performances videos will all be available on demand on BBC iPlayer.
