Will.i.am Gets BMI Award

BMI FETES A PEA: will.i.am will receive the BMI President’s Award at the org’s annual Urban Awards Ceremony on Sept. 10 at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. Boss Del Bryant and Atlanta VP Writer/Publisher Relations Catherine Brewton will hand out the award, which recognizes an individual who has “distinctly and profoundly influenced the entertainment industry,” with will.i.am honored for his work as an artist, producer, humanitarian and composer of riffs a brain surgeon couldn’t remove from your noggin. Past honorees include Juanes, Taylor Swift, Willie Nelson and Brian Wilson. (8/5p)
