U.K. CHARTS: "ESPRESSO" BUBBLES UP TO #1

Sabrina Carpenter has her first U.K. #1 single with “Espresso” (Island), while over on the album chart, Taylor Swift tallies a second week at the top and may have signed a long lease for that penthouse.

“Espresso” climbed to the top in its third week in the Top 10, rising from #5 last week. The track tallied 8.8m streams over the last seven days and sneaked ahead of Swift’s “Fortnight” f/Post Malone (EMI) by a scant 500 in sales.

Elsewhere, Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” (American Dogwood/EMPIRE) is up 10 spots to #6 and Swift has her 29th U.K. Top 10 single, “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” at #8. It’s the fourth song from her album THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT to reach the Top 10 in two weeks.

Outside the Top 10, Mark Ambor’s “Belong Together” (Hundred Days Records) is up one to #11, and “Tell Ur Girlfriend” (Artist Partner Group) by Lay Bankz rises three to #15.

On the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart, Swift’s TTPD fends off competition from Pet Shop Boys to remain at #1. It's an ironic development, because on Monday during a Guardian Live interview, Pet Shop Boys singer Neil Tennant criticized Swift for writing good lyrics but “disappointing” music. Tennant's group charts at #2 with nonetheless (Parlophone).

St. Vincent's All Born Screaming (Total Pleasure) is a new entry at #3, and The Zutons bow at #5 with The Big Decider (ICEPOP). Jess Glynne’s JESS (EMI) rests at #6.
