WARNER/CHAPPELL WINS AT THE IVORS
5/31/18

Songwriters took to the stage in London today (5/31), as the 63rd annual Ivor Novello award ceremony set out to honor U.K. songwriting and composing.

Top honors went to Warner/Chappell's Elbowfor Best Song Musically & Lyrically, Dave received Best Contemporary Song, while roster-mate and break-out artist Stormzy took home the Album of the Year statue for his debut LP, Gang Signs & Prayer.

Accepting the award with W/C's Amber Davis next to him, the grime act made sure to thank her, Mike Smith, W/C chieftain Jon Platt and his publishing family at large, adding "Obviously this is an award that only recognises your pen and your art so... properly wanted to win this one."

Platt later commented “Gang Signs & Prayer is songwriting at its finest, and this latest award is further recognition of Stormzy’s creative vision and cultural impact. With the outstanding talents of Dave and Elbow also being recognized, this is another great moment celebrating the diversity of British songwriting, artistry and music.”
