So here’s the problem: tracks run up the chart so fast, callout can’t catch up fast enough. Songs can’t get familiar enough to test well, but on the chart they need to move to power to continue their growth or they don’t appear healthy. We are killing songs way before their expiration date and great songs are falling by the wayside; both Lady Gaga and Adele rebounded and are heading back up the chart because of this. Smart programmers are starting to realize “Houston, we have a problem.”

Republic’s CW, Spangler & Russell are making the push to #1 with ZAYN/Taylor Swift’s “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” (UStudios/RCA)—it was one of the biggest spin increases in the Top 10 this week. The Weeknd f/Daft Punk’s “I Feel It Coming” (XO) is Top 5 on MB, Top 10 at iTunes and Top 10 U.S. Shazam. Shawn Mendes’ “Mercy” (Island) is heading Top 5, with Top 20 iTunes and a worldwide arena tour kicking off in April. This one should continue to climb. Marian Hill’s “Down” (Photo Finish) has some great research posting that should push this track Top 10 next week. Julia Michaels’ “Issues” is heading Top 10 with 730K Spotify Streams per day and Top 15 iTunes sales in tow. Ariana Grande f/Future’s “Everyday” pulled in big increases this week from WBBM, WXSS and WNKS and is moving toward the Top 15. Lorde’s “Greenlight” (Lava) was the #2 Greatest Gainer last week and should be Top 20 this week. Nicki Minaj’s “Regret In Your Tears” (YMCMB) impacted last week and was Top 5 Most Added; WBMP, KMVQ and WQMP are all early believers. Post Malone f/Quavo’s “Congratulations” has pulled in 20+ stations including KALV, KAMP and WBMP.

RCA’s Riccitelli, JR, Daddio & Cooper launched Stargate’s debut single “Waterfall” f/P!nk & Sia last week and pulled in 50+ adds on impact making it the Most Added track at Pop last week. Martin Garrix & Dua Lipa’s “Scared to be Lonely” moved Top 30 this week after pulling in 10 new adds, WFLC, WPLW and WKSL among them. Snakehips & Mo’s “Don’t Leave” has 85+ stations on board and scored new airplay at B96 and WZFT last week as it makes it way toward the chart. Impacting this week is Pitbull f/Stephen Marley’s “Options.”

Def Jam’s Sackheim, Rothchild & Farag continue to grow Rihanna’s “Love on the Brain” (Westbury Road/Roc Nation) inside the Top 10. After 20+ weeks it remains Top 5 on the MB Chart, Top 10 on the iTunes chart and near the top of both the Shazam and Spotify charts. Big Sean’s “Bounce Back” (G.O.O.D.) is Top 25 with 120+ stations on board; new this week are Premium Choice and WAKS. Axwell^Ingrosso f/Kid Ink’s “I Love You” has 70+ stations on board and over 17m plays on Spotify in just three weeks..

Columbia’s Leipsner, Borris & Vaughan are impacting Rag ‘n’ Bone Man’s “Human.” They are coming off #1 at Alt and AAA and there are already 200m video views; look for big add action on this one. The Chainsmokers are lighting up the chart with two tracks: “Paris” (Disruptor) is Top 5 and still climbing and “Something Just Like This” f/Coldplay is now Top 15 and we hear it just posted some great callout numbers. James Arthur’s “Say You Won’t Let Go” is now Top 20 and was of the Top 10 Greatest Gainers this week. Michael McCoy of WNCI (left) says it’s a “solid record across all indicators for us: local research, sales, streams and Shazam, Easy power record for WNCI.” Calvin Harris f/Frank Ocean & Migos’ “Slide” is heading Top 25; new airplay this week come from WFKS, WPOI and WKSS. Train’s “Play That Song” is set to move Top 30 with 100+ stations on board including KZZP, HITS1 and WXKS. Little Mix’s “Touch” moves closer to the chart as 90+ stations come on board early.

S-Curve’s David Nathan charted AJR’s “Weak” and it is now #38 with 65+ stations including WKSC, WEZB, WZPL and WIOQ.

Hollywood’s Finck, Smith and Ennis impacted Bea Miller’s “Song Like You” last week and pulled in airplay from 20+ stations including WRVW, KVIL and KLUC. Ocean Park Standoff’s “Good News” is building a terrific early story that includes WITH, KALV, WWMX and WFLZ. Sabrina Carpenter’s “Thumbs” is now Top 30 and posted Top 5 RTM this week as sales and streams continue to increase.

Capitol’s Marella, Rainey & Siciliano have Katy Perry’s “Chained to the Rhythm” sitting pretty in the Top 10 as early callout starts to come in. The track is #5 Pop BuzzAngle, and Top 10 on iTunes and global Shazam.

Warner Bros.’ Gray, Dyer, Reich & Shih have moved Linkin Park f/Kiiara’s “Heavy” Top 20 this week with big help from early believers KAMP, WDZH, KJKS and WBMP. Jason Derulo f/Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign’s “Swalla” is ready to chart with 80+ stations on board and new airplay coming in from Y100, WFLZ and XHTZ. Impacting this week is Dua Lipa’s “Be The One” with 88m Spotify streams and 100m+ YouTube views. The evidence on this one is building, and spinning prior to impact are KDIS, B96 and KYLD.

Epic’s Team Glassman have some great research stories coming in this week from major markets on Starley’s “Call On Me” which has drawn in 25+ new increases for the week. This one should make the Top 20 move shortly. Future f/Rihanna’s “Selfish” has massive streams and just pulled in new airplay from KLIF, KUDL and WZFT this week. DJ Khaled f/Beyonce & Jay Z’s “Shining” (We The Best) charts and is on 90+ stations.
