Rockers Kings of Leon have inked with Tom March’s Capitol and will roll out a new album on 5/10, with a tour beginning in the summer.
The Followill brothers and cousin’s new set, Can We Please Have Fun—their ninth album—was produced by the estimable Kid Harpoon (Harry Styles, Florence + the Machine); lead single “Mustang” is out now.
The Full Stop-managed quartet will turn in a headlining set at BST Hyde Park in London on 6/30 before launching their 26-city North American tour, presented by Live Nation, at Moody Center in Austin on 8/14. Stops on the trek include the L.A.-adjacent Kia Forum (8/22), NYC’s Forest Hills Stadium (9/18) and Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena (9/26). The presale opens on 2/27; a general on-sale commences 3/1 via Ticketmaster. More details can be found here.
The Kings and the Kid recorded the 12-song Fun at Nashville’s Dark Horse studio, and the brothers and the cousin say it balances freewheeling exploration and vulnerability.
“When you have a band, there’s a bond like no other, and when you have family, you have a bond like no other,” said frontman Caleb Followill. “We have both of those things. I thought, if we put all our energy toward something, who is gonna stop us? Who can stop us except us?”
