Warner Bros.Wonka won the final stanza at the nation’s box office, grossing $22.7m over the weekend and pulling in a projected $29.5m when New Year’s Day is added to the tally.

Globally, the film is hovering around $400m.

Warner Bros. also had the leader among Christmas Day releases as the musical version of The Color Purple brought in $11.7m. The Boys in the Boat ($8.4m) and Ferrari ($4.1m) were also released on Christmas Day.

According to ComScore, the 2023 domestic box office topped $9b, besting 2022’s $7.4b. Warner Bros.Barbie was the year’s top-grossing film globally and domestically, raking in $1.44b worldwide, with $636.2m of that total coming from the States and Canada.
