EUROPE'S TEMPEST CATCHES THE WAVE

Joey Tempest, vocalist and main songwriter for the band Europe, has struck a partnership with Primary Wave Music.

The publisher will acquire a portion of the singer’s catalog spanning five albums, including the songs “The Final Countdown,” “Rock the Night,” “Superstitious” and “Carrie.”

Said Primary Wave VP, Business & Legal Affairs Lexi Todd, “Joey's songs will continue to 'Rock the Night' for generations to come. We couldn’t be more excited to announce this new partnership.”

“As a songwriter, it’s a privilege to have part of my catalog in the same place as that of one of my heroes, Bob Marley,” Tempest said. “I feel my songs are in good hands and will benefit from the experience and expertise of my new friends in New York.”

A native of Stockholm, Tempest formed the band that would become Europe in 1979. After it went on hiatus in 1992, he released three solo albums. The band reunited in 2004. An official Europe documentary will be released this year to coincide with its 40th anniversary tour.
