Berry Gordy has appointed longtime attorney and advisor Carol Perrin as CEO of his companies.
"I have worked with the best in the business and choosing the right person to run my operation was no easy task," Gordy said. "Carol is the person I've come to trust and rely on to fill this role. She has the vision, the necessary skills and is brave enough to take this on."
Perrin, who called the Motown Records founder "a friend and mentor," began her career at the law firm of Ball Hunt Hart Brown & Baerwitz, where she was a partner. She later launched her own firm but ended her legal career as a principal at Greenberg Traurig LLP.
Gordy's recent activities have included Motown The Musical on Broadway, the Hitsville: The Making of Motown documentary and the expansion of Detroit's Motown Museum.
