New releases from Drake and Beyoncé are capturing the ears of Shazammers on both sides of the pond this week, while Netflix is responsible for juicing up a couple of vintage tunes.
Beyoncé’s “BREAK MY SOUL” (Parkwood/Columbia) is tops in getting thumbs wagging in the U.S. and U.K., but OVO/ Republic’s Drake has two songs among the biggest movers in the U.S.—“Jimmy Cooks” f/21 Savage and “Sticky”—and a different cut, “Massive,” wowing the U.K. crowd.
Universal’s 2021 animated film Sing 2 has spiked in popularity on Netflix; the winner among its pop-hit interpretations is Scarlett Johansson & Bono’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” (Republic).
Netflix’s Spiderhead has pushed the song you remember being constantly played in your friend’s Chevette back in the day: Supertramp’s “The Logical Song” (A&M). It’s also attracting thumbs in the U.K. along with the latest from Sonny Tennet and songs from The O’Jays, First Aid Kit and Gerry Cinnamon.
