BACKSTREET BOYS BREAK WECHAT RECORD

Just as they kicked off their 2022 DNA World Tour, the Backstreet Boys teamed up with the global messaging, social and banking app WeChat to give fans in China a free livestream performance.

Executive-produced by East Goes Global and sponsored by Lincoln, the 6/24 free event pulled in a record-breaking 44.2m viewers for the Ron Laffitte-managed quintet’s performance. It's the most-viewed show on the platform to date.

During the nearly two-hour set, BSB surprised fans by bringing out Irish boy band Westlife, who mounted the first Western WeChat performance (28m viewers), in December 2021. Their duet of "My Love" is currently the #1 trending topic in China.

"Being able to perform for our fans in China and bring our show to all of these homes at once is truly amazing. We appreciate WeChat for making this happen and Westlife for joining us," said Backstreet Boy Nick Carter.
