U.K. CHARTS: ANOTHER #1 FOR STEREOPHONICS

With Oochya! (Ignition), Stereophonics have scored their eighth #1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart. Over on singles, Dave has hit #1 with the fastest-selling single of the year.

Oochya! outsold its closest competition 2:1, resulting in Stereophonics' joining the likes of Taylor Swift, Oasis and R.E.M. as artists with the most Official U.K. #1 albums.

Marillion’s An Hour Before It’s Dark (Ear Music) is also new today, scoring the band its highest entry on the chart, #2, since 1987. Following his first arena tour, Dave’s second set, We’re All Alone in This Together (NBR), climbs back into the Top 5, at #5.

Elsewhere, a 20th anniversary remastered edition of The Coral’s self-titled debut (Run On) re-enters the chart at #7, and the debut from Kojey Radical, Reason to Smile (Warner Music U.K.), lands at #11.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, Dave’s “Starlight” is the first song in 2022 to go straight in at #1. It’s his second chart-topper, with sales of 63k, including 7.7m streams—the biggest opening week for a track this year.

Luude’s “Down Under” (Warner Records U.K.) has cracked the Top 5 for the first time, moving up one to #5. Sam Fender’s “Seventeen Going Under” (Polydor) rises one to #6, Mimi Webb’s “House on Fire” (Epic) also rises one, to #7, and the self-released “Overseas” by D-Block Europe and Central Cee does the same, to #8.

Outside the Top 10, A1 x J1 and Tion Wayne have a new entry at #11 with “Night Away (Dance)” (EMI), while Russ Millions, Buni and YV have this week’s highest climber with “Reggae & Calypso” (One of a Kind Music), which rises 34 places to #12.
