SONY MUSIC, PICTURES, LAUNCH TALENT VENTURES INDIA

Sony Music Entertainment (SME) and Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) have partnered to launch Sony Entertainment Talent Ventures India (SETVI). The joint venture will offer actors, musicians, athletes, gamers and content creators in India opportunities for co-ventures, brand partnerships, management and metaverse activations.

The collaboration is the first cross-corporation JV for the Sony Group in India.

SME is India’s leading record company, with a significant presence spanning Bollywood, Tamil original soundtracks and multiple genres, including national and regional pop. SPE includes Sony Pictures Networks, a broadcast division with more than 700m viewers in 170m households in 8,000 cities across India; Sony Pictures International Productions, a film-production studio; and Sony LIV, a growing streaming business.

Talent represented by SETVI will also benefit from potential partnerships and global opportunities in the wider Sony Group, such as Sony PlayStation and Sony Electronics.

Said Shridhar Subramaniam, SME President of Corporate Strategy and Market Development in Asia and the Middle East (pictured), “SETVI will leverage our expertise, deep local relationships and global reach to afford talent the potential to scale, become household brands and fully realize their creative and commercial potential. The digital revolution and India’s unique startup culture bring huge opportunities. SETVI’s role will be to partner with talent to build and serve their fans in exciting new ways.”

Subramaniam, Sony Motion Picture Group President Sanford Panitch and Sony Pictures India MD/CEO N.P. Singh comprise SETVI’s board of directors. Vijay Singh will lead the new company as CEO.
