PERRY STAYS WITH SONY PUBLISHING

Medea is staying home. Sony Music Publishing has extended its worldwide agreement with Tyler Perry and his production enterprise Tyler Perry Studios.

Sony Music Publishing’s Visual + Media Rights division will continue to administer all of Tyler Perry Studios’ commissioned music for more than 60 productions, including 1,500 series episodes, 26 films and 20 plays. It will also cover future productions.

The deal renews the company’s 10-year relationship with Perry and his music supervisor Joel C. High.

Perry’s latest project is A Madea Homecoming, slated for release in 2022 via Netflix. Perry and Netflix also plan next year to release A Jazzman’s Blues, a passion project the multi-hyphenate began back in 1995.

“Tyler Perry Studios continues to transform the film/TV industry with its modern creative vision and passion for diverse storytelling,” Sony Music Publishing Chairman and CEO Jon Platt said. “We are committed to supporting the studio’s talented composers and the music that brings these unique narratives to life.”
