AWOLNATION SETS "SAIL" TO DIAMOND ISLAND

AWOLNATION’s “Sail” has been certified diamond by the RIAA, becoming the third-ever independent release to achieve this milestone.

The Alternative mega-hit has moved 10m+ units in the 10 years since its release via Red Bull Records and joins only 56 other songs that have been certified diamond. The track first arrived on the band’s debut EP, Back From Earth, before being featured on their first studio album, Megalithic Symphony, in 2011.

“I wrote this song with the intention of showing a few friends and my family. It’s a very raw and honest song, so I was kinda nervous to share,” says AWOLNATION founder Aaron Bruno. “I continue to be shocked and humbled that this many millions of people have related. Never in my wildest dreams, would I have even imagined this gift.”

“We’re honored to be a part of such an incredible accomplishment with an artist as talented as AWOLNATION,” added Greg Hammer, Managing Director of Red Bull Records. “It’s an amazing feat for an independent record to earn a certification of this level, and we as a company are immensely proud to see how far this release has come over the past ten years.”

The RIAA certification follows the release of AWOLNATION latest full-length album, 2020's Angel Miners & The Lightning Riders, as well as the deluxe digital edition of Megalithic Symphony, which dropped earlier this year and includes three previously unreleased B-sides—“Cannibals,” “I’m No Good” and “Wichita Panama”—as well as new live tracks. Since forming in 2010, the band has accumulated 1.5b+ global streams and notched eight Top 5 Alternative radio hits across four albums, including two #1 tracks.

Bruno plans to wear his diamond plaque as a necklace.
