FLIPOVER FRIDAY: NEW ARRIVALS AT iTUNES AND APPLE MUSIC

Weezer is crushing it at iTunes this Flipover Friday, while J. Cole fans flock to Apple Music to stream his latest track.

At iTunes albums' #1, Van Weezer (Crush/Atlantic), the guitar-driven album Weezer intended to release prior to its Hella Mega Tour with Green Day last year, is one of three new arrivals topping the iTunes and Apple Music charts. Cole’s “interlude,” the first track released from his upcoming Dreamville/Roc Nation/Interscope full-length, is #1 at Apple Music songs; Coldplay’s “Higher Power” (Parlophone) is #1 at iTunes songs.

Back to iTunes albums, nine of the Top 10 entries are rookies.

The result of Jack Ingram, Miranda Lambert and Jon Randall’s West Texas songwriting retreat, The Marfa Tapes (Vanner/RCA) sparks up at #2, one slot ahead of Texas indie country duo Radio Company’s Vol. 2 (Two Chair).

The country music parade continues with the 16-track deluxe edition of Kenny Chesney’s Here and Now (Blue Chair/Warner Nashville) at #4 and Travis Tritt’s first studio album in 14 years, Set in Stone (Big Noise), at #5.

Two sophomore albums follow: Rag’n’Bone Man’s Life by Misadventure (Columbia) at #6 and Bebe Rexha’s Better Mistakes (Warner) at #8.

For their first album in 14 years, Aly & AJ revive the record-titling spirit of Fiona Apple with a touch of the beat gets you up on your feet gets you out and then into the sun; it’s #9. Build a Problem from YouTube sensation Dodie is #10.

Sitting just outside the Top 10 are new releases from Cody Jinks, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Van Morrison and Heart’s Nancy Wilson.

Toosii has the top new release at Apple Music. His Thank You for Believing (South Coast Music/Capitol) is #5, ahead of Tee Grizzley’s Built for Whatever (300), at #7.

At iTunes songs, OneRepublic’s “Run,” from their upcoming Mosley/Interscope release Human, is #4.
