BLAVATNIK, FLORENCE GET THE GATSBY PARTY STARTED

Warner Music chief and Broadway financier Len Blavatnik is backing a musical stage adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby with lyrics and music by Florence + the Machine’s Florence Welch.

Blavatnik is producing with songwriter/label exec Amanda Ghost for Unigram in association with Robert Fox; Welch is doing the music with Thomas Bartlett, who has released four albums as Doveman.

“This book has haunted me for a large part of my life,” Welch said. “It contains some of my favorite lines in literature. Musicals were my first love, and I feel a deep connection to Fitzgerald’s broken romanticism. It is an honor to have been offered the chance to recreate this book in song.”

Warner Music will release the original cast recording.

Blavatnik’s Access Entertainment will co-produce the show; Hannah Giannoulis and James Orange will serve as Executive Producers.
