U.K. CHARTS: ARCHITECTS RENDER A #1

Architects squeak past Maximo Park to claim the top spot on the Official Albums Chart with For Those That Wish To Exist (Epitaph). Olivia Rodrigo isn’t budging at singles.

The Brighton metalcore band’s ninth album registered just 550 chart sales more than Maximo Park’s Nature Always Wins (Prolifica). It’s not only Architects’ first chart-topper, it’s their first Top 10 album as well. For Those That Wish To Exist is the week’s best-selling album on vinyl and top seller in independent record shops.

For Maximo Park, Nature Always Wins becomes their first Top 10 album in seven years, and matches their previous peak earned by 2007’s Our Earthly Pleasures.

Digga D’s Made In The Pyrex (CGM) comes in at #3, landing the West London rapper a new chart peak. It was the most streamed release of the week. Digga D also claims his third Top 40 hit this year with “Bluuwuu” at #23.

Alice Cooper’s Detroit Stories (Ear Music) enters at #4, his highest-charting album since 1991’s Hey Stoopid. Lucy Spraggan’s sixth album, Choices (Cooking Vinyl) lands at #5, her highest-charting record to date.

Further down, The White StripesGreatest Hits (CMG) becomes their fifth Top 40 at #12; Billie Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? rises 14 places to #16 following the release of her Apple TV+ documentary The World’s A Little Blurry; and Neil Young & Crazy Horse’s live album Way Down in the Rust Bucket (Warner) debuts at #18, Young’s 42nd Top 40 album.

Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” (Polydor) registered its eighth week at #1 with 5.1m streams. Nathan Evans’ “Wellerman” remix with 220 Kid and Billen Ted (Polydor) rebounds to #2 from #3, and Lil Tjay & 6LACK’s “Calling My Phone” (Columbia/Interscope) is up to 3.

Joel Corry, RAYE and David Guetta’s “BED” (Asylum) is this week’s highest new entry, opening at #20.
