BRIT AWARDS GET NEW CREATIVE TEAM

UMG U.K. EVP Selina Webb and EMI President Rebecca Allen will head a new creative team for The BRIT Awards, scheduled for 5/11.

The BRITs Committee, made up of representatives of major and independent record labels, will lead in a more collaborative fashion this year, fostering a community feel. The award categories, meanwhile, will be revised to further encourage inclusivity.

The team for the 41st show includes BRITs TV executive producer Sally Wood; visual artists Es Devlin OBE and Yinka Ilori MBE, who will co-design the trophy this year, will lead creative direction and design.

The BRITs is still set to take place at The O2 Arena in London but, given the ongoing pandemic, the jury’s out on whether guests will be able to attend. Allen and Webb issued a statement that said: "However the world is looking come May, our ambition is not for a ‘normal’ BRITs but a show which truly reflects the spirit of the past year.” They added that the production will be about “collaboration, culture and community as well as a celebration of some of the brilliant music helping us all through."

The voting eligibility window will close on 3/11; voting for the BRIT Rising Star Award will take place between 2/24 and 3/5.
