TICKETMASTER TECH PUT TO A TEST

Ticketmaster is exploring how it can enhance its existing digital-ticket capabilities to provide health-related solutions once live events return. Rather than a mandate, as some outlets are reporting, Ticketmaster is studying how to provide tools.

There is no requirement from Ticketmaster for vaccines/testing for future events. The company is working with event organizers on COVID-19 safety measures, but it will be up to each organizer to establish protocols.

Ticketmaster is exploring the potential for event organizers to have the abiility to ask fans for COVID-19 vaccine status and/or test results. Third-party health-care providers could link to fans’ digital tickets. All health information would have to be stored with a third-party health-care provider compliant with HIPPA privacy directives.

There is no set timeline for any of this to be implemented.

“We imagine there will be many third-party health-care providers handling vetting—whether that is getting a vaccine, taking a test or other methods of review and approval—which could then be linked via a digital ticket so everyone entering the event is verified,” Ticketmaster President Mark Yovich said. “Ticketmaster’s goal is to provide enough flexibility and options that venues and fans have multiple paths to return to events, and we're working to create integrations with our … digital-ticketing technology, as we will look to tap into the top solutions based on what’s greenlit by officials and desired by clients.”
