Look for an announcement shortly that Republic has tapped Sammie Taylor as EVP of A&R, reporting to Founder/Prexy Avery Lipman and President, West Coast Creative Wendy Goldstein.
“Sammie brings a ton of energy, an incredible track record, and noticeable passion to our team,” Lipman said. “He has an unbelievable ability to develop talent. It’s an honor to welcome him aboard.”
Taylor most recently served as EVP Creative at Kobalt, where he signed Roddy Ricch and Gunna, among other notables, and worked with such high-profile creators as Raphael Saadiq and Jay Rock; he also signed hitmakers Yung Exclusive, BlaqNmilD, Jay White, Teddy Walton, Jahan Sweet and Al Shux, who crafted hits for the likes of Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion.
“He can certainly recognize talent, but he also has an incredible ability to develop and cultivate talent,” said Goldstein, who has worked with Taylor on previous projects. “He will be key to our continued growth and evolution as a company and a cornerstone of our A&R strategy going forward.”
He’ll be based in L.A., so Team Republic has advised him to avoid us like the plague.
