VMAS POWER THROUGH PANDEMIC HURDLES (UPDATE)

As the MTV VMAs continue to announce a stacked lineup for their live broadcast on Sunday, 8/30, the ambitious remote production has its hands full balancing multiple stages, crews and talent, on top of keeping all parties safe.

While MTV pivoted from hosting the event at Barclays Center to producing at various locations across New York and Los Angeles—a daunting task at any moment, let alone a pandemic—it's rumored that multiple performers might be pulled from the event due to safety precautions. UPDATE: Previously announced performers Roddy Ricch and J Balvin have been removed from the VMAs performers list on their website.

Some sources have reported issues with the COVID compliance team. A bubble has been created at an L.A. hotel for the artists and their teams, along with a bubble for production at the custom-built soundstage for the event.

Booked performers include Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, BTS, Doja Cat, Roddy Ricch, J Balvin, CNCO, Miley Cyrus, DaBaby, Maluma and Black Eyed Peas.
