U.K. DRIVE-IN SERIES SCRAPPED

Local lockdowns throughout England have forced Live Nation to cancel its drive-in concert series in the U.K.

Despite a slow easing of lockdown measures country-wide by the British Government, local authorities have been imposing lockdowns for places that have an alarming number of coronavirus cases. As a result, Leicester is still in lockdown while other areas such as Bradford, Northampton and Sheffield are said to be at risk.

“We received huge support from artists, the live music production contractors, our headline sponsor Utilita along with our other partners, and of course you, the fans,” Live Nation said in a statement. "However, the latest developments regarding localized lockdowns mean it has become impossible for us to continue with the series with any confidence. We thank everyone for their support and eagerly await a time when we can watch live music together again."

Full refunds will be issued to ticket-holders within the next seven days.

Live Nation’s Utilita Live From The Drive-In series was due to visit 12 venues in major cities including Leeds, Liverpool, London, Bristol and Edinburgh. Artists on the bill included The Streets, Kaiser Chiefs, Ash, Brand New Heavies, Gary Numan and Lightning Seeds.
