SIRIUS XM ADDS TO ARTIST CHANNELS

SiriusXM has launched six radio channels dedicated to six legendary musical acts, among them Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Queen and Prince.

The channels, which go live at noon ET will be available through 8/13 on the SiriusXM app, internet connected devices and smart speakers. Channels are also devoted to Beastie Boys and Coldplay.

Beastie Boys Channel will include commentary and stories from the group plus a guest DJ series, “Pass the Mic,” that will include artists, celebrities and athletes such as Sean Lennon, Rosie Perez and Michael Rapaport. The channel in on the app in the rock category and occupies channel 35 through 7/21.

Bob Marley’s Tuff Gong Radio will will include Marley’s studio and live performances plus recordings from the Marley family. Guest DJs include Jack Johnson, Carlos Santana and Michael Franti. On the app it’s in the Hip-Hop/R&B category and on the dial it’s channel 42 through 8/13.

Coldplay Radio will include classic albums, live performances, collaborations and musical influences. Each weeknight at 8pm ET through 7/21, channel 28 will feature the “Live in Technicolor” series, which will present live concerts from the band’s 20-year career. Tonight is “Live in Madrid” from 2011 and will also include the band’s exclusive SiriusXM performances from Stephen Talkhouse in the Hamptons and the SiriusXM Garage in Los Angeles. Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion will alternate hosting “Songs That Made Us Who We Are”; Beck, Dua Lipa, Demi Lovato, Shawn Mendes and Meghan Trainor will be guest DJs.

The Michael Jackson Channel will feature music from the King of Pop’s entire catalog and air playlists featuring Guest DJs such as Akon, Rodney Jerkins and Michael’s brothers. Steven Ivory is the channel’s host. On the app in the Pop category, it will be channel 50 through 7/21.

The Prince Channel will include Purple Playlists from Maya Rudolph, Naomi Campbell, The Revolution, Morris Day, Jerome Benton, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis of The Time. Music by artists that Prince was closely connected to, inspired by, and collaborated with will also be featured on channel 50 from 7/22 through 7/28.

The Queen Channel will showcase more than 40 years of musical material and commentary from Foo FightersDave Grohl & Taylor Hawkins, Paul Rodgers and others. On the app in the Rock category, channel 27 will be The Queen Channel through 7/21.
