U.K. MIDWEEKS: PAUL WELLER HEADING FOR #1

Paul Weller is heading for his first U.K. Official Albums #1 in more than eight years. On Sunset (Polydor) is ahead of its closest competition by 11,000 sales at the halfway point. Over on singles, AJ Tracey and Mabel’s “West Ten” (Sony) is currently the highest new entry at #7.

On Sunset, which sold the most physical albums and downloads across the weekend, is all-but-certain to earn Weller a landmark 20th solo Top 10 album on Friday. It could be his first chart-topper since March 2012.

At #2 midweek is the most streamed album of the past three days, Pop Smoke’s posthumous debut, Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon (Republic). Katherine Jenkins could secure her highest-charting album in 12 years this week with Cinema Paradiso (Decca) currently sitting at #3.

Synth pop duo Sparks are contending for their highest-charting album ever as A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip (BMG) is #4 following its physical release. Cannibal (Music for Nations) could be the first Top 10 album for metalcore band Bury Tomorrow; it’s  #6.

Punk-rock trio Dream Wife could also impact this week’s Top 10 with their second LP, So When You Gonna... (Lucky Number Music), at #8.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles midweeks, “Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat)” by Jawsh 685 & Jason Derulo (RCA) looks set for another week at #1. Further down, three songs from Pop Smoke could enter this week’s Top 20: “The Woo” at #10, “For The Night” at #11, and “Aim For The Moon” at #17.

Just outside the Top 20, producer Joel Corry and singer/songwriter MNEK are set for a big new entry with “Head & Heart” (Atlantic) currently at #23.
