While Natalie Maines, Martie Erwin Maguire and Emily Strayer made a statement after redirecting visitors to dixiechicks.com to http://thechicks.com. The New York Times noticed the switch earlier today.
"We want to meet the moment,” the trio said in a statement.
They avoided the issue Lady Antebellum faced after shortening their name to Lady A, already long in use by a Seattle singer. The Chicks duo of New Zealand have allowed Emily, Natalie and Martie to use the name.
