SONOS DIALS IN RADIO

Sonos, the connected speaker maker with 26m products in 10m homes globally, has launched Sonos Radio, a free, ad-supported streaming service. Out now via a new software update, Sonos Radio is exclusively available to owners of Sonos hardware.

The company states that Sonos Radio is a complementary service to the many streaming options already available via the the Sonos app, including on-demand platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.

Sonos Radio consists of three main elements:

Sonos Sound System, the signature ad-free station, will be hosted by Sonos and recorded in a new radio studio in the company’s flagship store in SoHo, NYC. This station will also feature guest Artist Radio Hours by the likes of Angel Olsen, JPEGMAFIA, Vagabon and Phoebe Bridgers.

Artist Stations will feature song selections by artists, the first of which is In the Absence Thereof from Thom Yorke of Radiohead. Stations by Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, David Byrne of Talking Heads and Third Man Records will launch in the coming weeks.

And Sonos Stations, handpicked by a team of curators, DJs and artists, will offer more than 30 genre-based, curated stations, with titles such as Rap Game, Sunset Fuzz, Cruise Control, Indie Gold, Hip Hop Archive and Country Outlaws.

Within Sonos Radio is also a new user interface for navigating stations from iHeartRadio and TuneIn, which will now pull from a user's ZIP Code to serve up local stations for music, news and sports. For more info go here.
