 BRIT AWARDS:
ALL THE NOMINEES

The 2020 BRIT Award nominations have been revealed. Dave and Lewis Capaldi lead the pack with four nods each, followed by Mabel and Stormzy, who are up for three apiece.

Dave (signed and managed by NBR and distributed by UMG) and Lewis Capaldi (Virgin EMI) are both up for Male Solo Artist, Best New Artist, Song of the Year and Mastercard Album of the Year for their respective debuts.

Stormzy (Atlantic/Merky) is nominated for Male Solo Artist, Album of the Year and Song of the Year, and Mabel (Polydor) is up for Best New Artist, Song of the Year and Female Solo Artist.

Harry Styles (Columbia) and Michael Kiwanuka (Polydor) have two nominations apiece, in the Male Solo Artist and Album of the Year categories.

It's worth noting how male-heavy the list is—Mabel is the only female artist listed in the four shared-gender categories, making those nominees, rather shockingly, 96% male. As always, the list is representative of last year's biggest sellers, and there were no new albums from British females in the Official Charts end of year albums Top 40. Mabel was the only British female in the Top 40 singles list with "Don't Call Me Up." As Guardian critic Alexis Petridis wondered: Do the U.K. major labels have a problem when it comes to developing new female talent?

All in all, Universal counts 19.5 entries (half points given for Dave), Sony has ten, Warner tallies 9.5 (half points given for shared tracks) and the independent sector has six. You'll find the full list below.

Winners will be announced during the annual ceremony at London’s O2 Arena on 2/18 and broadcast on ITV. Amazon Music is the digital music partner.
