The word from several insiders is that busy industry consultant, music exec, activist and Nashville Recording Academy Trustee Tracy Gershon has emerged as a strong voice out of Nashville, and that she has had a substantial impact “in the room” in influencing Grammy nominations this year and last. It’s said that she has been an effective advocate for the work of artist Brandi Carlile, previously helping advocate for the artist’s nominations bonanza—and this year campaigning for heavily nominated Tanya Tucker, on whose latest project Carlile served as writer and co-producer. The award-winning exec also been a major voice for diversity and inclusion amid the Old Boys Club of Nashville, co-founding Change the Conversation to help “improve the environment for women in country music.”
