WHO COULD BE THIS YEAR'S BRANDI? MAGGIE MAY

Who could be the Brandi Carlile of this year’s Grammys? Quite a few insiders are betting on Maggie Rogers as a deserving wildcard.

The scuttlebutt among Grammy watchers is that the Secret Nominating Committee may be about to reward Rogers when noms come out Wednesday, and that she could be in the mix for more than Best New Artist. Rogers has won plaudits for her Capitol album Heard It in a Past Life as well as for single “Light On,” a love letter to her fans.

That Rogers—who first pinged the radar at an NYU masterclass, where Pharrell Williams became an instant evangelist for her talent—served as a producer on her project as well as songwriter/performer further ups her cred in Grammyville.

Assuming the murmurs about her are true, could Rogers go all the way? Stay tuned.
