HITS HIGH 5: WHO WANTS CANDY?

We dressed up and hit the streets of Hollywood for Halloween, returning with a overflowing bag of rotten apples, circus peanuts, Necco Wafers and Wax Cola Bottles. Next year, maybe we won’t wear our HITS T-shirts.

Now that we’ve been tricked, here are your treats in the HITS High 5.

Sony Music’s recorded-music sales hit $1b for a second consecutive quarter.

Revenue at Live Nation for the first nine months is up 6% to $8.7b thanks to robust international business and U.S. arena and theater events.

Who’s streaming whom? In quarterly reports, Spotify announced its premium subscription base was up to 113m at the end of September and SiriusXM said it had more than 29.6m self-pay subscribers.

While everyone was deciding between a sexy Mr. Rogers costume or Trump in an orange jumpsuit, a slew of  teases and release announcements crossed our radar as did the buzz around independent breakthrough Arizona Zervas (pictured).

Sony Music U.K. has launched a children's entertainment record label, Magic Star, that will be led by Will Speer. The idea excited us but we were reminded that we’re not children, just childish.
